چکیده
This study performs global stability/receptivity analyses of hypersonic sweep flows around a blunt body with an infinite span. For the first time, we obtain characteristics leading attachment-line mode to variation angles from 20 70 degrees. The eigenfunctions exhibit instability at edge. At same cross-flow (at small angles) or second Mack larger dominates further downstream. We establish adjoint-based bi-orthogonal eigenfunction system address receptivity problem such any external forces and boundary perturbations. indicate that modes are most responsive surface perturbations applied in vicinity attachment line, regardless angles. It is also proved present extension can be successfully complex flows.

Chemical and Vibrational Nonequilibrium Hypersonic Viscous Flow around an Axisymmetric Blunt Body
Abstract—Hypersonic flows around spatial vehicles during their reentry phase in planetary atmospheres are characterized by intense aerothermodynamics phenomena. The aim of this work is to analyze high temperature flows around an axisymmetric blunt body taking into account chemical and vibrational non-equilibrium for air mixture species and the no slip condition at the wall. For this purpose, th...
متن کاملHybrid Particle-Continuum Simulations of Non-Equilibrium Hypersonic Blunt Body Flows
A modular particle-continuum (MPC) numerical method is presented which solves the Navier-Stokes (NS) equations in regions of near-equilibrium and uses the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method where the flow is in non-equilibrium. The MPC method is designed specifically for steady-state, hypersonic, nonequilibrium flows and couples existing, state-of-the-art DSMC and NS solvers into a sin...
متن کاملA Computational Approach to Swept Leading-Edge Receptivity
Computational techniques developed to simulate receptivity mechanisms near a swept-wing leadingedge are presented. The method is based on hybrid finite-difference and spectral approximations to the compressible Navier–Stokes equations in a generalized coordinate system. Particular attention is paid to boundary treatments in an effort to reduce the generation of spurious waves which can mask the...
متن کاملReceptivity to surface roughness near a swept leading edge
The formation of stationary crossflow vortices in a three-dimensional boundary layer due to surface roughness located near the leading edge of a swept wing is investigated using numerical solutions of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations. The numerical solutions are used to evaluate the accuracy of theoretical receptivity predictions which are based on the parallel-flow approximation. By re...
متن کاملLaminar and Turbulent Aero Heating Predictions over Blunt Body in Hypersonic Flow
In the present work, an engineering method is developed to predict laminar and turbulent heating-rate solutions for blunt reentry spacecraft at hypersonic conditions. The calculation of aerodynamic heating around blunt bodies requires alternative solution of inviscid flow field around the hypersonic bodies. In this paper, the procedure is of an inverse nature, that is, a shock wave is assumed a...
